In Egyptian mythology the Phoenix was a sacred bird that burned itself on a pyre every 500 years only to be reborn from its own ashes. The ancient Egyptians related the story of the Phoenix's death and rebirth to the sun's daily setting and rising. Both symbols represent our eternal spirits.

The Phoenix is a powerful symbol of transformation. The healing process includes the process of transformation. Becoming more whole is a process of death and rebirth, a process of letting go of the old and accepting the new. That is why I chose this symbol to act as an inspirational guide for my spiritual healing practice. As I deepen my committment to heal and transform my life, the symbol of the Phoenix encourages me to embrace the power of my spiritual nature. It also teaches me that, as a spiritual being having a human experience, I can call on the power of loving forces to support me as I undergo desired transformations on my healing journey.

Transformation asks us to let go of old parts of ourselves that tie us to hurt, pain, and suffering, in order to be reborn more complete, more loving, and more at peace. This healing work of life may be painful at times, but we can awaken from the ashes of this death aspect of the creative process radiating even more of our true potential.
